Slightly Revamping The Bathroom: Simpler Than Expected

The nobles and the rich popularised the idea of indoor bathrooms during the late Victorian era. Since then a lot has changed, but bathrooms are still around despite more than a hundred years passing since then. In that time, many things have changed, but many things have remained more or less the same. Since history likes to repeat itself, not that much has been changing in bathrooms for the average person, and only the rich have fancy jacuzzis and massaging showers in their bathrooms. However, that does not mean that you should completely give up on having any sort of luxury around. If you’re looking for a few ideas on what to add to your bathroom to make life a bit nicer for yourself, look no further. Let’s look at a few ways in which you can freshen up your daily bathroom experience, without the hassle of having to redo the whole room.

It’s the little things

For the most part, a bathroom just consists of a bathtub or shower, a sink, some cabinets or storage and maybe a toilet. The formula is already pretty much established, and there does not seem to be a need for any incredibly major change, so you should just work on what is already there. Get yourself some new shower curtains if you have some, maybe replace your toilet roll holders, frame your mirror, get a new cup or stand to store your toothbrush. Maybe you should get a new toothbrush or hairbrush to go with it, out with the old in with the new as they say. It really does not take much to improve the overall look of the place, and still feel like there some new things for you to enjoy. After all, no need to reinvent the wheel, and if it isn’t broken, why fix it? A bathroom is already functional as it is, it just needs some refreshing every now and again.

A simple rug goes a long way

Surely, no one is a stranger to one of the many terrible curses of living on this planet, cold tile floors the moment you get out of the bath or shower. You might have even cringed while reading this because of the very thought resurfacing in your head, it really is that bad. Of course, humans naturally seek comfort, so some clever people already came up with ways of dealing with this daily-occurring tragedy. The simplest way to resolve this is just to get a rug to put on the floor, it really is that obvious, and yet often people do not have this huge quality of life improvement in their household. If you’ve been ahead of the curve, and you already have one, it might just be time to get a new one. Rugs tend to admit to their age rather openly, and are not afraid to show the wear and tear they have gained throughout the years. Not to mention, in a constantly damp and humid environment, rugs have a harder time staying in shape, after all, they are just fabric. Despite that, nothing should be able to stop you from getting a soft and fluffy rug to put in your bathroom, just so you can enjoy that moment of bliss when you step onto it straight out of the bath. If kept well maintained on a regular basis, a rug can last you for years on end even in the bathroom, if you do not feel like doing bi-weekly rug washing and cleaning, you can always settle for a synthetic-fibre rug which is much more resilient to water. With modern technology, they are softer and comfier than ever and you might not even feel the difference.

New flooring?

If rugs altogether are not your cup of tea, you could get some different flooring which does not get anywhere near as cold as the average bathroom floor. Karndean flooring is a type of vinyl tile, which is easy to put down, and can look like almost anything you would like it to. With the amounts of different prints it has, you are bound to find something that would fit your kind of interior and tastes. Other than being easy to put down and waterproof, making it great for bathrooms, it also does not get anywhere near as cold as the usual bathroom floor. This in itself, almost completely replaces the need for a rug or mat to stand on, as well as freshens up the decor, making it a 2-in-one deal.
