I recently test drove a Kia Optima Hybrid and I really wish I had this car back when I was traveling back and forth to college. This car is so good on gas, couldn’t even get it down to 3/4 fuel wise, the entire week I drove it. I didn’t drive this one as much as I did my previous 2 Kia reviews I did because of all of the activities I had going on the week before Christmas, however, I did drive it enough to see what a great car this would be for daily use.
The car was not uncomfortable to drive even with my back injuries. That’s always a concern of mine because I seem to be able to feel every little bump in the road with small cars. I didn’t have that problem with this car, however, because it is a hybrid, it was a little jerky and lagging at times and this was when it was shifting (transitioning?) between the electric motor and the gas engine. This did not cause any pain in my back at all. It was just a little difficult to get used to the first time I drove it. After that, I didn’t give it another thought.
This car is geared for luxury as much as it is for the gas mileage and keeping that thought in mind, as I mentioned before, this would be my car of choice for a lot of traveling, which I am not able to do due to back issues. So, for me personally, I would choose luxury over great gas mileage. I showed the car to a lot of different individuals and everyone I talked to said they would choose a hybrid over any other car if it was affordable. I did mention that this car really IS affordable and advised they go to the Kia website to get more information about the price, safety and standard and optional features. Some of the features include the front and side airbags, 4 wheel disk brakes and 4 wheel anti-lock brakes, front and rear 3 point seatbelts and more. One of the features I thought was awesome was the driver’s seat memory. It allows the driver to set their desired positions so you don’t have to keep adjusting it if anyone uses your car. The rear camera is so handy to have especially for anyone with kids and pets. I’ve run over a few bikes in my days.
If you are in the market for a new car, be sure to check out the Kia Optima Hybrid.
