Is your Car About to Break Down? Find out Here

Posted on March 4, 2024May 21, 2025 by Terri's Little Haven

If your car is about to break down then you need to start lining up a replacement. If you don’t then you may find that you end up throwing more money down the drain and that it becomes more difficult for you to make a solid decision as you are so rushed. If you want to help yourself here then one thing you need to do is take note of these top signs, as they indicate that things aren’t as bright as they could be in terms of your vehicle’s future.

Lumps of Thick Oil

Engine oil should be light yellow and it should also be free from any lumps. You can test this by simply removing your dipstick. If you notice that it is coated in sludgy oil or if you notice that it is dark down in color then you need to do an oil change or a filter change. Oil will lose its lubrication over time and this can cause engine damage. Similarly, when the filter is old you may notice that dirt ends up making its way into your engine. This leads to corrosion, which can be a very costly repair. By dealing with it now, you will soon find that it is easier for you to come out on top.

Metal Flakes in Your Oil

As oil ends up circulating your engine, you may notice that it picks up metal shavings or even flakes from the components. This happens as the engine wears down. If you have an oil filter then you should know that this is designed to catch the flakes. If you have noticed that there are a lot of them in your oil however then this means that it is time for you to replace the filter and take steps to protect your vehicle going forward.

Green or Blue Puddles

Colorful puddles underneath your car can indicate that you have a leak within your car. Topping up the coolant is very easy to do but do make sure that you buy a concentrated coolant. You can then dilute it according to the instructions on the bottle. This is a very short-term fix but if you have a major leak then you need to be dealing with the source of the issue. If you notice that the coolant reservoir is empty and the leak is severe then you need to avoid driving your car until you have fixed the problem. If you drive a car with little-to-no coolant then this can cause major engine damage which is the last thing you need. If you feel as though you need a new car then make sure you check out the Hyundai Ioniq PCP.

Uneven Tyre Tread

When your tires do not wear out evenly, you may find that you end up with suspension issues or that you end up with misaligned wheels. If this is the case then you need to take note of tyre tread depth. This will help you to know if there are any issues with the tyre tread and it also helps you to take note of how your car could be misaligned. If you can keep this in mind then you will be able to make better choices.
