New Jersey for Families

New Jersey might not be the first place you think about packing up and heading off to on a family vacation because it does have something of a reputation for its rather rowdy nightlife, but actually, it is one of the best places in the US to take the kids. As well as all of those action-packed clubs and bars, New Jersey is home to numerous landmarks and attractions, not to mention some beautiful beaches, which provide plenty of wholesome family fun.

Sound good? If you do end up visiting the Garden State with the family, here are a few things you should definitely try to squeeze into your itinerary:

The Liberty Science Center, Jersey City

Located on the Jersey City Boulevard, this fantastic museum is arguably the best family attraction in the state. Mixing fun and educational value seamlessly, it is home to an Infinity Climber hanging gym which enables you to climb 64 platforms to a height of 35 feet, a completely dark Touch Tunnel maze that requires you to engage your senses, a very cool Nikola Tesla Lightning Show and much more besides. Kids can also get involved in performing their own science experiments such as extracting DNA from plants, and there’s an IMAX Dome Theater which is the biggest in the country to enjoy too!

The Funplex, Whippany

Just a stone’s throw from the Hanover Marriott, which is a great place to stay, in Whippany, is The Funplex. As the name might suggest, it’s an indoor amusement center that’s fit for the whole family and home to a range of fun activities from bumper cars and arcade games to a stunning 4D theater that will have everyone enthralled. If you’re unlucky enough to visit during bad weather, it’s the perfect indoor destination to keep everyone happy.

The Jersey Shore

Of course, you cannot head to NJ without spending some time on the shore. Stroll along the boardwalk watching the world go by as you eat hot dogs and ice cream before taking a dip in the sea or spending some time tanning on the beach and you’ll really get to appreciate the simple things in life.

Blackbeard’s Cave, Bayville

Located on Atlantic City Blvd, not far from the Sheraton Atlantic City Convention Center, is Blackbears Cave. A swashbuckling amusement park that truly does have something for everyone. With a distinctly nautical theme, it is home to Battle Tank Tags, bumper boats instead of cars, a huge inflatable obstacle course and even a driving range for those of you who love a little golf.  It’ll keep the kids happy and you’ll love it more than you might imagine too!

Casino Pier and Breakwater Beach Waterpark, Seaside Heights

If you’re visiting New Jersey with the family in summer, you absolutely must visit this amazing beach waterpark, which is home to not one, but two parks with Ferris wheels, roller coasters, mini-golf, an arcade and many more attractions to choose from apart from the obvious pools and slides. Suitable for all ages, it’s a wild ride for sure.
