Seasonal Tips For Decorating The Front Of Your Home

Embracing different types of decor as the seasons change can be a great way to keep your home fresh and exciting. However, it’s not just the interior that you can make changes to. Below are a few different ways to decorate the front of your home throughout each of the seasons

Spring

Spring is a period of rebirth. It’s a great time for giving the outside of your home a spring clean – which could include wiping down your front door and jet-washing your driveway. It’s also the perfect time to consider new plants. Hanging baskets of flowers and window boxes of flowers can spruce up the front of your home, helping to make it more cheery and welcoming. You could also consider a spring wreath for your door made from poppies, lavender or wildflowers.

Summer

Summer is another great time of the year to embrace flowers – particularly bright colors like yellows and rich blues. Think sunflowers, dahlias and geraniums. Because this is the time of the year when your home is likely to get the most light during the day, consider experimenting with solar lights too. Illuminated butterflies and solar pebbles can continue to provide a warm inviting glow at night. This could also be the ideal season for placing a deck chair out on your porch (if you have a porch), so you can relax and watch the world go by.

Fall

Fall in when the leaves start coming off the trees and when the rain starts coming in. Many of us stop caring about what the front of our home looks like. However, this is also harvest time and spooky season – making it a great time of the year to embrace all kinds of unique exterior decor. Wreaths made from orange maple leaves and pumpkins can help to bring autumnal colors to your home’s exterior. Meanwhile, Halloween decor such as illuminated ghosts and skeletons can add a playful tone to the front of your home (as well as helping you to attract trick-or-treaters on Halloween night). You can explore all kinds of unique halloween decorations online. Fog and ambient lighting can help to create an eerie atmosphere. Avoid fake spiderwebs as they can get messy and birds have been known to get trapped in them.

Winter

Winter is the season of Christmas – and there are all kinds of festive ways to decorate the outside of your home. A winter wreath on your front door could be a simple way to embrace the festive spirit. Alternatively, you can look into more elaborate decor including Christmas lights, sculptures and garlands. Imagery to explore includes snowmen, reindeer, candy canes, christmas trees, Santa, stars and nativity scenes. If you choose to hang up fairy lights, start from the bottom of your home and work your way up to the top. Use clips instead of nails and staples, and hang roof lighting from the eaves as opposed to the shingles – this will prevent causing unnecessary damage to your home as you hang up the lights.
