How I Turned Everyday Chaos into Purposeful Living and You Can Too

How I Turned Everyday Chaos into Purposeful Living and You Can Too

Posted on August 4, 2025 by Terri's Little Haven

Welcome to Terri’s Little Haven where we believe in cozy couches happy hearts and learning to live with purpose even if that means stepping over a mountain of laundry to get there.

If you are anything like me you have probably had a few “What am I even doing with my life” moments. Usually while standing in the kitchen staring at the fridge with no clue why you opened it. Purposeful living isn’t about having a fancy vision board or a ten year plan. It is about choosing to make each day a little more meaningful in a way that feels like you.

Purpose: Do I Need One of Those

Here’s a little secret you already have one. It’s not hiding under the couch with the dust bunnies. Purpose is not some magical thing you find after reading fifty self help books. It is tucked away in your daily choices. It’s in how you brew your morning coffee how you call a friend just to chat and yes even in how you sing off key to 90s boybands while cleaning the bathroom mirror.

Purposeful living is not about perfect living. It is simply about being present and choosing to enjoy this wild ride called life.

Little Ways to Live with Purpose Without Overhauling Your Life

I am not here to tell you to quit your job move to Bali and start a llama rescue farm unless that sounds fun in which case please send me postcards. Purposeful living starts with tiny choices that add up to big joy. Here is how I sprinkle purpose into my own beautiful chaos.

Start the Day with What Would Make Me Smile Today
Before you roll out of bed ask yourself what would make you smile today. It could be pancakes for dinner. It could be five minutes of quiet with a hot cup of tea. Purpose loves small happy moments.

Make Mundane Tasks Meaningful
Laundry again. Instead of groaning I turn on my favorite podcast or call a friend for a giggle. Purpose is hidden in how we choose to experience the ordinary.

Say No Without Feeling Guilty
This one took me years to learn. But purposeful living means protecting your time and energy. Saying no to things that drain you leaves room for things that light you up.

Connect Like You Mean It
Purposeful living grows in genuine connections. I love sending random “thinking of you” messages or surprising someone with a coffee drop off. Those little acts of kindness add so much joy to everyone’s day.

Celebrate the Silly Wins
Folded the laundry and actually put it away. That deserves a victory dance. Purposeful living is about celebrating the little victories that keep life moving forward.

The Magic Trick Pay Attention

Purposeful living is not about changing your whole life overnight. It is about noticing the little moments that are already there and choosing to enjoy them. Sometimes that means turning off the noise and really tasting your tea. Sometimes it means making a mess in the kitchen because your kids’ giggles are worth the cleanup.

It is not about perfection. It is about presence.

Purposeful Living My Cozy Version

For me purposeful living looks like this. A home that feels like a big warm hug. A life filled with belly laughs. A heart that finds joy in the ordinary. It is not about having it all figured out because let’s be honest I do not. It is about living in a way that feels kind true and a little bit silly.

So here is your friendly reminder from Terri’s Little Haven. Purpose is not a destination. It is a choice you get to make every single day. One mismatched sock and one happy heart at a time.
