1. Never Use Abrasive Cleaners

Let’s start by discussing abrasive cleaners. Because the simple truth is that they will quickly scratch up the outer surface of your mobile device.

Abrasive cleaners are just about the worst thing you could use to clean your smartphone. This includes substances such as hydrogen peroxide, ammonia, window cleaner, and other aerosol sprays. Because while these might seem like a quick way to get the job done, the results will likely be disastrous.

Many people make the mistake of using Clorox wipes on their glass screens, but this is actually a really bad idea. Why? Well, this type of sanitizer is known to remove the device’s oleophobic coating, thus exposing it to your fingerprints and other oils from your hands.

2. Never Submerge In Water

This one should be obvious, and yet you’d probably be shocked at the number of people that totally dunk their devices in water during the cleaning process. Because while many of the latest models claim to be water-resistant, but that doesn’t make them waterproof.

3. Never Charge During Cleaning

Here’s some pretty obvious science for you: moisture and electricity are natural enemies. Thus you would never fall prey to the impulse to clean your smartphone while it’s plugged into a power source.

Again, this might seem a tad obvious, but not everyone understands the importance of powering down phones before wiping it down with any type of liquid, spray, or even just a slightly damp cloth.

5. Never Spray a Cleaner Directly Onto the Device

Don’t get in the habit of spraying liquid directly on your device. Why? Because it can easily drip into cracks and other openings. The key is to always spray onto a cloth and then use the cloth to wipe down your device.

6. Never Use Liquid Around Device Openings

Again, this should be a no-brainer. Never use liquid around USB or charging ports or speakers. Why? Because that’s a great way to fry the circuitry of your smartphone.
