Beauty Bargains – How Do These 4 Home Beauty Treatments Compare to The Real Deal?

It’s only natural to want to save a few dollars here and there. However, when it comes to beauty treatments, some things are better left to the professionals. Here are four examples of beauty treatments and how they compare to the real deal.

Teeth Whitening

Those who aren’t happy with the shade of their teeth are perpetually on the hunt for the best teeth whitening methods. You’ve probably worked your way through special toothpaste, over-the-counter whitening chemicals, and even chewing gum that swears to make your teeth whiter.

In reality, teeth whitening is most effective when carried out under the guidance of a trained dentist. Sure, you may discover a slight change in your teeth with home remedies, but instant results are easy to achieve in one or two visits with a dentist.

What’s more, they can provide in-chair whitening and take-home kits so that you can keep up with your whitening routine at home.

Gel Nails

Getting gel nails at a salon can make you feel like a million dollars. You can get them for special events or just to match some of your favorite outfits. In saying that, if you are getting them all the time, it can become a costly habit.

The truth is, gel nails are expensive for a reason. Given how much technology and accessories are involved in the process, you may not have much luck with a homemade version. You can buy gel nail kits and acrylic nail kits online and in stores, but that doesn’t mean you can achieve a professional finish on your own.

Expert nail technicians understand product chemistry and application, but the average nail art lover doesn’t. You also run the risk of inferior-quality products that can cause infections and nail damage.

Spray Tans

If you’re not one to spend a lot of time in the sun, then you may prefer to head to your local salon for regular tanning. But what if you tried to do it at home?

There is a lot involved in the spray tanning process, which is why it can be expensive at a tanning salon. It can be especially challenging to do it correctly the first time you try it. You may apply the tan unevenly, use the wrong product for your skin, or find yourself accidentally purchasing a bronzer rather than a tanner.

What’s more, the tanning process at home can take a lot longer because you often find that the most accessible products to consumers are those that require a few applications before a noticeable difference occurs.

Waxing

Shaving can be an inconvenience, which is why many people like the idea of waxing instead. You can wax your legs, bikini area, face, back, the list goes on. There are many home kits that allow you to wax away in the comfort of your own home, but you can also head to a beauty salon and have a professional take care of it for you.

Many people find they achieve the same results with a take-home kit as they do with a salon expert. However, it can be a case of personal preference. For example, if you have a low pain threshold, you may not be comfortable “pulling the trigger,” so to speak. In that case, it can help to have a professional take the lead.

There’s no denying that home beauty treatments can be more affordable than salon treatments. They can also be equally as effective in some cases. But when it comes to teeth whitening, tanning, and even gel nails, it may be in your best interest to leave it to the professionals.
