Love to Swim? Here’s Why You Should Go More Often

If you love spending time in the water, we don’t blame you. The way that water can make us feel supple and buoyant and light gives us a reason to want to go back to the pool every single time. Whether you are heading to the ocean every morning for a dip before work or you’re going to your local pool a couple of times a week, swimming can offer you so many more benefits than just having somewhere to float and feel like you are floating away.

Swimming for fitness is something very different from dipping in the water just to feel the water on your skin. A chiropractor will tell you the benefits of swimming for your spine, but if you love to swim, you really should be going more often anyway. Whether you are doggy, paddling with a float or you are relaxing on a lilo with a drink in the garden, there are plenty of reasons you should be heading back to the pool every chance you get.   • It’s a heart friendly exercise. A good way to speed up your heart rate and get fitter is to swim. From the moment you take your first stroke, being in the water is really going to get your lungs and your heart going and it’s all low impact, which means you’re not going to be putting any pressure on your joints while you do it. It doesn’t matter whether you are just starting out on your fitness journey or you already have high fitness levels, swimming can be something that really does boost your confidence.and your physical health.
  • You can take better care of your health with a good swim. Two or three times a week, you should be dipping into the water to make yourself feel good. If you’re trying to reduce your risk of chronic illnesses and stave off the idea of an early death, then taking care of your health with swimming can be the best thing that you do for yourself. Water is the perfect place to exercise your body and your bones, no matter what age you are. If you are dealing with long term health conditions for example you’ll be able to stay physically and more mentally fit when you swim
  • You’ll be stronger. Not everybody likes to sit in the gym lifting weights or rowing until their arms fall off. If you want to build your strength, then exercising all of the groups of the muscles of your body is a good way to do it, and swimming can help you to do that very easily. Your arms and your upper body will propel you forward against the resistance of that water and it’s that resistance that provides you with something that really does make you feel good. It’s invigorating in the end.

Swimming is an exercise that you should be indulging in if you love the water – don’t wait around for a membership!
