New Year, New You
It is almost 2020! Doesn’t that sound crazy? With a new year (and a new decade!!) comes needed change. Evaluate the year prior and figure out how you can make the next year better. If you are struggling on ways to improve in the coming year, here are a few ideas:
Workout Every Day
This year, try your hand at working out every single day. This does not have to be anything crazy such as Orange Theory, Crossfit, or Pure Barre, but a simple walk or stretch is extremely do-able for just about anyone. There are so many health benefits that working out can provide you with, but it’s also great for your mood and energy levels, too! If you begin working out just once a day, I can promise that it will be easier overtime and eventually, it will become your norm. Not only will you feel better, but you will also look better and become more confident, as well.
Clear Out Your Junk
Do you have a ton of junk in your home? Maybe you don’t even realize it – maybe you have clothes packed in your closet and do not even realize that you haven’t worn some of them in 8 or more years. When you have a lot of clutter in your home (or in your life), it also creates a lot of stress for you. It has been scientifically proven that the MORE you have, the more stress you have, as well. In Italy, they teach that living a simple life is much better because it is so much less stressful. I definitely see how this is true. That’s why in this new year, I think that we should all clear out the junk in our lives. Clothes that we haven’t worn in years and probably won’t wear again? Toss them. Old pots and pans that are rusting? Toss them. Basements, garages, sheds, attics, and closets packed? Go through all of the stuff and see what you do not need. Clearing out the junk will make you feel so much better, I can guarantee that.
Remove Toxic Relationships
You know the friend that always brings the mood down. You know – the one that joins a party and all they can do is complain and then complain some more. My friend has a sister that is like this. Anytime they get together, there is something that comes up that she just has to complain about. A change in plans? She complains. Someone wants her to meet them halfway? She complains. These are the people who see the glass half empty and when they are constantly in an awful mood, they bring you down, as well, even if you do not realize it immediately. How do I know this? Because I’ve been there before. I have been brought down by those in my life and I did not realize it until later on when someone pointed out how much I was complaining and how negative I was. Quickly, I learned that I never used to be that way and I realized that some of the people I was frequently with brought me down with them. You know the saying, “you are who you surround yourself with.” Well, that could not be more true. You really are who you surround yourself with and they will either bring you up, or they will bring you down. Choose to soar above the clouds – it’s a much better view!
Necessary Health Appointments
It is really hard to take time out of your day and week to go to necessary health appointments – I know it is. But, it’s really, really important for your overall well-being. Doctors visits, yearly skin checks, and bi-yearly dental appointments are all very important. If you need to find new providers, consider looking for gentle and caring providers – ones that you will not dread going to see. For example, Dr. Gary Simms with Metro Decatur Dental Group PC is known for his calm and caring demeanor. “Dr. Simms loves what he does, and knows the importance of changing someones smile, both functionally and cosmetically; the results often positively change someones entire life, not just their smile.
