5 Ways to Help Create Core Memories for Your Children
With technology and devices practically ruling today’s world, children in this day and age have a much different kind of childhood than say, what you had as a child. For most, looking back onto their childhood will stir some memories of certain moments in their life that will last a lifetime, and there’s a good chance it didn’t involve any kind of technology or screen in front of their face. As a parent, you want your children to have the best childhood possible, so let’s take a look at some experiences you could share with them to create some core memories that they’ll remember for the rest of their life.
Watching fireworks when it’s freezing outside
While there are still lots of people who attend firework displays, the tradition and event in itself has died down. Instead, lots of people choose to watch the New Year fireworks on the TV. But, there’s something so magical about bundling up in layers and watching fireworks outside. So, next time there’s a firework display near you, wrap up warm, fill some flasks with cocoa and go and enjoy the display. It’s a great way of getting out of the house and into the fresh air as a family!
Going fishing
Going with your parents or grandparents to look at brand new fishing boats for sale and then heading out on a hot summer’s day for a spot of fishing is something that everyone should experience at least once in their life. It’s a great way to be at one with the ocean, and it’s also a fantastic way to spend some quality time together as a family. You don’t even have to keep the fish either; if you use safer methods of catching fish, you can release them back into the water and still have an incredible memory to share.
Getting their first pet
Every child dreams of having a pet to love and care for. While different living situations might dictate what kind of pet you choose, it’s still a really exciting experience for your children. It doesn’t matter if you surprise them with a puppy or take them to pick out a goldfish, they’ll remember that feeling for the rest of their lives.
Staying up all night for a special event
Sometimes there are special events that either warrant staying up in excitement or require you to. Going on vacation, for example, might need you to stay awake because of the time difference in your destination. Or, being so excited on Christmas Eve that you simply can’t sleep. Making those nights special with movies, new pyjamas and their favourite snacks will not be something they’ll forget in a hurry.
Christmas traditions
Speaking of Christmas, we all follow traditions like opening and giving gifts, eating a turkey dinner, and even enjoying eggnog. But, creating your own traditions is even more exciting. Why not create some of your own like driving around the neighbourhood to see everyone’s Christmas lights? Or maybe you could all make table decorations the night before Christmas as a fun and creative way to pass the time. No matter what you choose, they’ll take those memories and those traditions into their adult life!
