The Ultimate Beginner Guide to Skincare

Skincare is a necessity if you want your skin to appear smooth, attractive, and healthy. However, building a skincare routine can be complicated, especially for beginners. With the array of skincare products out there, beginners may find it hard to select the appropriate skincare products for their skin.

If you find yourself battling this issue, don’t fret. This article will take you through the important things you need in your skincare and basically categorize the whole process, making it pretty easy for you to assimilate.

Let’s begin with some skincare routine basics.

Know your skin

If, say, your car battery gets damaged, will you go to the motor spare part dealer and purchase any battery? Definitely not! You’ll want to figure out the battery your car uses before visiting the spare part dealer.

The same applies to drafting a skincare routine. Before drafting a skincare routine, you must know your skin type. You wouldn’t want to use a skincare product that is inappropriate for your skin. The result may be unpleasant. Here is an insight into the four skin types.

  • Oily skin type
  • Dry skin type
  • Sensitive skin type
  • Combination skin type

Next, let’s look at the steps to a simple skincare routine for beginners.

Step 1: Cleanse

Before painting dusty furniture, what do you do? Clean it, right?  Of course! And that is what you’ll do before applying any skincare product to your skin. Kick-off your skincare journey with gel-based cleaners to rid your skin of the gunk.

Ensure you don’t go to the extremes with this step. Many people cleanse too much, too often, or use a cleanser that is too harsh. The consequences? They end up breaking down their skin’s protective barrier.

If your skin is dry or perhaps sensitive, try washing only at night and rinsing your face with water in the morning.

 Step 2: Toner

After cleaning your skin , the next step is to apply toner. What does a toner do to the skin? A toner helps replenish and nourish the skin after cleaning (for those who aren’t aware). This step can greatly help your skin and health.

If you have oily skin, ensure you go for a toner that fits your skin (a hydrating toner made without searing alcohol is best for oily skin). What if you have acne-prone skin? In that case, we recommend a toner with ingredients like salicylic acid to fight breakouts.

Step 3: Exfoliator

Exfoliating is an underrated and ignored step in a skincare routine. Implementing this step in your skincare plan can do your skin a lot of good. A good exfoliation doesn’t only leave you glowing. It also helps unclog pores and extract impurities.

If your skin contains excessive or unwanted hair you wish to get rid of, we recommend laser hair removal at BeauXMD for precise, less painful, and quick hair removal. After undergoing laser hair removal, wait about a week to ten days post-treatment to begin exfoliating. It would be best to restrict your exfoliating to around once a week. Anything more than that could damage your skin.

Step 4: Moisturize

A moisturizer is an important skin care product that helps hydrate and soften the skin. It also helps protect your skin’s barrier from irritation. While toner balances your skin after cleaning, the role of moisturizing is to hydrate the skin and ensure that it remains healthy and youthful. You shouldn’t ignore this step for any reason. If possible, buy a moisturizer that features SPF to protect you from sunlight in the daytime.

Step 5: Serum

Serums are oil or water-based liquids that are applied to the skin.  They contain active ingredients that help add glow to your skin, reduce blemish, and hydrate your skin. If you are concerned about aging, look no further than serum. Serums can help fight the signs of aging while ensuring that your skin stays bright and youthful.

Conclusion

Skincare can be a hassle if you don’t know the ropes. You want to cater to your skin,  but you don’t know if you should moisturize your skin before cleaning it. Or what type of moisturizer to use for your skin type. We hope this article helps you create the ideal skincare routine that delivers the best results for your skin.
