Tips on How to Ask a Celebrity to Your School Prom
It’s not really that crazy of an idea — right?
We’ve all seen the news stories or the trending tags on social that have shown us how, once in a blue moon, a lucky teen’s cry for attention to their favorite celebrity totally pays off – in other words, we’ve seen celebrities give in to their fans when it comes to prom dates before. So, it’s not such a wild idea that you could ask your fave celebrity to your prom, right?
All you need to know is how to do it, get some tips, and implement them in time (you also might need a little luck, right?).
We teamed up with JJ’s House Designer Jessica to put our heads together and collaborate to come up with some of the most helpful tips for asking a celebrity to your school prom – aside from picking out the perfect prom dress for your 2019 prom from JJ’s House, of course (although, we suggest you don’t underestimate this tip!)

Ask Well in Advance
When it comes to asking a celebrity to be your prom date, you need to be incredibly realistic and logistical, and that means that you’re taking the time to ask them well in advance. You know celebrities of all calibers have crazy packed schedules, and the last thing you want is to get in touch with a celebrity, almost have them on the hook as your date, and then getting a big, fat no due to scheduling conflicts. Don’t let this be the reason your dream date rejects your question – look into their schedules but also ask incredibly far in advance in order to attempt to catch them before they schedule something on your special day.
Know Who to Reach Out To
With celebrities or influencers, it’s not always as easy as just sliding into their DMs on Instagram or finding their email address, often, you need to know who to reach out to in order to get in touch with your dream celebrity. Often, famous people have handlers or press teams to handle their inquiries. Do your research and reach out to the right people so you have a better chance of getting in touch with your celebrity!
Try to Have a Creative Angle
We’re not saying that celebrity wouldn’t want to go out with you just because you’re you, but often, it can help to have a creative, philanthropic angle to get a celebrity to come as your date. Try to team up with your school to see if you can throw together a fundraising effort that could be benefitted by your celebrity agreeing to be your date. Not only will this help get your dream date to get in touch with you, but you’re also doing some good, and that’s never a bad thing!
Go the Extra Mile
Don’t do something to humiliate yourself but try to be creative to get your celebrity’s attention. This could entail a social media stunt, a philanthropic angle (like we discussed before), or something totally unique to you — just try to be different, fun, and exciting!
Be Prepared for a Little Disappointment
In the end, the biggest tip is to be prepared for a little disappointment. Maybe your celebrity can’t join you for your 2019 prom, but no matter what, you’re going to have a great time, make great memories, and enjoy yourself – so don’t stake your entire enjoyment off the plausibility of a celebrity coming as your date.
